In a previous post, I lamented the closing of the Seattle's Best on Chicago and Wabash. Well, there's a sign in the window, announcing the arrival of Starbucks. It shouldn't surprise me, since Starbucks owns Seattle's Best. So now we can hang out in the same space but sip more bitter coffee. But it's sort of weird because there's already a Starbucks a few blocks away, at Chestnut and Rush. What's going on?

I love language, which is why I started Metrolingua. I currently translate Japanese and French, but I've also translated Spanish, Portuguese, and German. I speak Japanese pretty well and am a native English speaker. I used to speak more languages, but I've been putting more of my energy into radio, which is drying up due to consolidation and syndication. I also teach English as a Second Language (ESL) to adults, which is really enjoyable.
